DONKEYS/MULES LEFT TO FEED AT GARBAGE DUMP YARD, AN INVITATION TO GLANDERS IN NORTH-EAST DELHI
North-East Delhi: Another massive negligence on part of Delhi government can be seen in north-east Delhi which is exposing a serious threat to the residents of north-east delhi and it’s other adjoining areas.
Around two months back a notification was issued by delhi government in west delhi wherein the entire Delhi was declared as controlled area restricting the entry and exit of horses, donkeys and mules due to an alarm for glanders disease.
Glanders is known to be a serious infectious disease caused by gramnegative bacterium which mostly attacks horses, donkeys and mules.
Some persons who used these donkeys/mules as carrier for transporting their commercial goods have now left these aged donkeys and mules to feed on the heap of garbage where sanitation workers are also engaged in discharging their duties.
One of the sanitation worker said, “We are also a part of this civil society and we discharge our duties with honesty and keep this city clean but the government machinery is not concerned about this serious threat of glanders to us. People left their donkeys/ mules to feed on the garbage collection centres whereat we have to work in the proximity to these animals where the probability of spreading of this disease is very high.”
Delhi Government to issue notification in North-East Delhi and take an apt action to send these stray donkeys/mules to some other safe place. The offenders should also be penalised with stringent provisions of law.
