I WANT SACHIN TO ENJOY FAREWELL TEST: DHONI
As India gear up to take on the West Indies in the second and final Test beginning tomorrow, skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni has wished retiring Sachin Tendulkar to enjoy his last match to the fullest as there are no guarantees of a fairytale hundred that all his fans are hoping for.
Addressing the pre-match press conference in Mumbai today, Dhoni also hoped that the cricket legend would get a few wickets for the team.
“That will be a fun as one expects some turn and bounce from the wicket,” he said.
As Sachin bid adieu to his international career, Dhoni said there could not be a replacement for him or Rahul Dravid, but one will have to accept today’s youngsters at face value.
“They will have their own characters. A Virat Kohli should play as Virat Kohli. A Cheteshwar Pujara irrespective of how he bats would bring a different character to the team,” he asserted.
The skipper was of the view that if Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman brought colour to the team, the new crop of players will bring a different set of colours.
Dhoni also talked about his team’s strategy for bowling and pitch conditions.
