JAIN COMMUNITY PROTESTS IN CHANDNI CHOWK AGAINST MP VIJAY GOEL

New Delhi : Jain community in Chandni Chowk area staged a massive protest against Mr. Vijay Goel, Rajya Sabha MP and Minister of State Youth Affairs and Sports, for converting the M/s Lakhori unit of Delhi heritage property into a hotel cum restaurant in the locality of Dharam Pura where liquor and non vegetarian food  is also allegedly to be served This hotel is very close to children school and Jain Temple which has been a religious center of the jain community residing there for over 50 years.

Around 1000 citizens from other religions also have also joined the Jain community during this protest since they are also seeing this hotel as an invitation to those activities in the area which are not permissible in their culture and will hamper the upbringing of their children and can snatch their children away from their cultural rights.

Mr. Anuj Bhargava, District President (Industrial Cell) Delhi Congress led this protest and extended his full support to the jain community during their protest, Anuj said, “ Jain community comes under the minority community in India and as per Article 29-30 of Indian Constitution it is their constitutional right to safeguard their religion and their culture and no government can deny to preserve their rights. Congress Party will keep on raising the voice of the minorities in India and will fight against any violation of their fundamental rights. ”

Sh. Rajeev Jain @ Kali Bhaiya, a social worker of Chandni Chowk area said, “We have also written several complaints against this hotel to Prime Minister Office, Chief Minister Office, Excise Commissioner but no prompt response has come to us.  If government doesn’t listen our demand then we will initiate a mass level agitation in the coming days.
