JAIRAM RAMESH NOT IN FAVOUR OF RSETI MODEL FOR EACH DISTRICT, PREFERS CONSOLIDATION
Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh is opposed to some ingredients of Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETI) model, which provides self-employment training to rural youths.
Instead of expansion, he suggested, consolidation should be the objective of the programme.
The minister was speaking at an event in New Delhi today celebrating the RSETI diwas. He said the training facilities should be combined instead of having a RSETI in each district of the country.
Ramesh also turned down proposal of bankers that extending loans should be made compulsory for trainees to start their own business enterprises. Adopting it could lead to scams in Hindi heartland such as, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, he asserted.
