No more hassle to get licence from weight and measures Department

Delhi Government has further taken a good step to end the inspector raj. This time Weights & Measures Department, Govt. of NCT of Delhi is launched an online portal for grant and renewal of various licences. The portal has been developed by Delhi e-Governance Society, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, which has been launched by Food and Supplies and legal metrology(LM) minister Imran Hussain, today.

Speaking on the occasion, Imran Hussain, said that Delhi Government is committed towards ease of doing business by providing facilities at the doorstep of the trader. He also informed that more services of the Department will be made online for the convenience of public very soon.

On the occasion, Secretary, Information Technology and Secretary, Food & Supplies and Legal Metrology were also present along with Controller(LM) and other officers of the Department. With the launch of the portal the dealers, manufacturers, packers and importers would not be required to visit the office of Legal Metrology/ Weight and Measures Department for the purpose of registration and deposit of Govt. dues.

The system will enable applicants to apply for new registration or for any work relating to their business by logging into the existing website of the Department at any time as per their own convenience from the comforts of their home, office etc. For the benefit of applicants, facility of filling the form in Hindi has also been provided on the portal.

The facility of online applications and grant and renewal of various licences will bring transparency and efficiency in the system and would help avoid unnecessary visits to the Zonal Offices of the Department. The applicant would be able to know the status of their application online as well as through SMS alerts at the time of submission of the application and at the time of grant of the licence. The licence would be provided online through Digital Signatures which will reduce any kinds of malpractices.

It was also made clear that no application will be received by the Department manually with the launch of online portal. This facility will allow the applicant to upload their documents which would be self-certified thereby creating an atmosphere of trust between the traders and the Government. The applicant can apply online at
