Spare parts trader spares no effort to stalk bollywood actress
Mahender Singh \ New Delhi
A 27-year-old Delhi-based businessman has been arrested for stalking a
prominent singer and a bollywood actress, who currently lives in Mumbai. The victim, a resident of Greater Kailash, has also acted in a movie. In her
complaint, she also accused him of masking his real identity and
pretending to be the son of a leading industrialist. Following her
allegation, an FIR was registered against him on charges of
impersonation and outraging the modesty of a woman.
Police said the accused has been identified as Tarun Singh, a resident
of Rajouri Garden who runs a spare parts business in Delhi. “The
arrest was made on Tuesday following a complaint by the 26-year-old
victim, who claimed that the accused was stalking and threatening
her,” the officer added.
The victim met Singh at a common friend’s party a few months ago. The
accused introduced himself as Daksh Oberoi, an owner of a stud farm.
“They exchanged numbers and after some meetings, they started seeing
each other. After some months, the accused proposed her and she
accepted his marriage proposal,” said the police officer, adding that
as soon as the victim accepted his proposal, he started avoiding her.
However, she called his bluff when a friend informed her that he had
found a Facebook profile of ‘Daksh’ wherein he had stated his name as
Tarun Singh. “After tracking his profile on a social networking site, the victim
found that he was flirting with other women. She approached some of
the girls from his Facebook profile to unearth the entire conspiracy,”
the officer added.
After meeting other women, the victim learnt that he had proposed to
them as well. “He stopped taking her phone calls. But, the accused
started threatening her of dire consequences and also misbehaved with
the victim,” said the police officer. After several weeks, the victim
finally mustered courage and narrated the whole incident to her
friend. Police were informed.
Based on the victim’s complaint, a case was registered under Sections
354-A (passing lewd comments and outraging the modesty of the victim),
354-D (stalking), 419 (punishment for cheating by impersonation), 506
(threatening) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous
communication) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Greater Kailash
Police Station of South-East Delhi.
