SRINAGAR-MUZAFFARABAD BUS SERVICE STALLED OVER ARREST OF PAK TRUCKER FOR SMUGGLING NARCOTICS

With the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service stalled today, the deadlock between the Indian and Pakistani sides continues at the Uri cross LoC trade point.

This came after trade was suspended by the Pakistani side on Saturday. It demanded the release of a truck driver who was allegedly carrying 114 kg of heroin and was arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The narcotics valued at over Rs.100 crore in the international market were reportedly being smuggled in the truck during cross LoC trade in the Uri sector.

The trade between Pakistan and India across the Line of Control (LoC) was suspended following the arrest of the driver accused of smuggling contrabands.

Twenty-seven Indian truckers have been held on Pakistan side while 49 Pakistani trucks and their drivers were held on Indian side of the LoC following the incident.

According to authorities, the Pakistani truck driver will be tried as per the Indian law.
